The church here at Shkodër is still very young. It has been less than 20 years since the fall of communism and the opening of the door for the gospel to come back into Albania. Interestingly, the church in Philippi was much the same age when Paul wrote his letter to them. In it he said this…

“And this I pray, that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.”      
Phil. 1:9-11

 

This is our prayer for the believers here in Albania. That their love will be rooted in the word of God, so that they may be able to understand what really matters, and what is important in this life. So that they will lead holy, pure, blameless lives bearing fruit in every good work. And that all glory and praise will be to God, the Father of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

 

We believe that the church should be reaching up to God, and also reaching out to others. For this reason we emphasise the importance of Bible teaching and discipleship classes, and also the need to plant churches in other areas. Since the beginning of the church , we have been involved in church plants in 4 other towns, although at the moment we only concentrate on Shkodër, Koplik, Lezhe and Rreshen. We have full time workers in Lezhe & Rreshen, as well as a full time Bible Teacher in Shkoder. 

 

Please pray for much spiritual wisdom for the elders in their weekly pastoral visits, care and guidance of the believers in the church. We have more than 60 baptised and in fellowship. (although more than that attend the meetings) We have had almost 20 weddings in the last 15 years, and now almost 50 children born into these families.
